Some sewing and crochet.

I don't know about the weather where you are but it was bright blue skies and sunshine here on Wednesday, (not now though it's tipping it down!) Anyway I couldn't go out and garden as the builders outside my house had broken a water pipe so no water all day. There was only one thing for it a bit of sewing whilst Lily playdoughed. I got my machine out for the first time this year and made some funny Easter bunnies, there were a few as I couldn't decide on the fabric!

I'm not too sure about the eyes and noses lol.

Then a few lavender filled hearts and a little bird.

Spring, hopefully, will soon be here, Tildas 'Crafting Springtime Gifts' is off the shelf and the list is being made!

I've also been busy on the crochet front I made a rose tea cosy, not that I drink tea but that's neither here nor there! I started this from a pattern found on the net. It was something to do whilst watching Snakes on a Plane - quite weird and scary - the film not the crochet! Anyway because I kept hiding behind the pattern I got completely lost so I finished by just doing my own thing.

Another thing that has had me flummoxed was a vintage rose cap pattern, it took three attempts. I realised after a few rows that the hook size was wrong, the hat would've fitted Barbie! Using a bigger hook and it was okay for Tiny Tears, finally with a very large hook it fit Lily and she loves it as she can pull it over her eyes and can see through the gaps. Luckily the hat only took a couple of hours to crochet.

My January swap has been received by Claire at Dollydollop. The theme was Cath Kidstonesque, I embroidered an heart and stuffed it with lavender, crocheted a garland of flowers and decoupaged a frame with CK tissues and then added a pink polka dot mug.

I've also been given another award from the wonderful Angel at shabby angel.

People's generosity

At the shabby chic cafe we have been awaiting the arrival of the new batch of Cath Kidston bags for Tesco's. Although some people saw them in their shops others haven't had the luck! So the lovely people that were able to bought and posted the bags to the other forum members. I had looked in my local Tescos, 8 miles away, to no avail but the lovely Pipkin, aka Raspberry Grace, managed to get me one and one for 4 or 5 others and posted them first class and trusted that she would be reimbursed, I think this is so generous in this day and age thankyou Pipkin, I love it!

I was also quite lucky yesterday to come across a bag of patchwork fabric in the charity shop for £1.50. I don't know about you but everytime I see fabric in charity shops it's usually mega expensive so this was a first for me. Inside there was alot of fabric some pieces were about a 1/4yd, there were also a few Cranston panels as well as lots of 3 inch square florals.

After 3 months my kitchen is now beginning to resemble a kitchen again with one wall of units finished apart from the black nickel socket faceplates, which we are going to get tomorrow.

This morning I finally unpacked my new kenwood mixer. It has sat in it's box teasing me for the past 4 months but it sure was worth the wait isn't it gorgeous!!

As I said the kitchen isn't quite finished yet lol!!

More painting etc..

Can't believe the change in the weather here, it was really hot and sunny until Wednesday evening when we had a thunderstorm and it tipped it down with rain. Today it's quite cold and I have just lit the fire! after spending ages trying to put a picture in my blog header, got there in the end although I did want it more like a banner anyway it's a photo of the poppies at Eden last summer. I've completed some more makeovers- a wooden chair which was stained green and I have now painted in aged white and made a simple seat pad from Cath Kidston's blue ottoman rose fabric on one side and Globatex pale blue heart on the other.

I've also painted and covered the stool (before photo in a previous post). I used Cath's antique rose blue oilcloth for the seat pad. And finally I painted and lined the lid of a wooden box that I paid £1 for at a car boot. This was painted with aged white and inset with Cath's gingham blue oilcloth.
